Error code systems are built into LG dishwashers to assist consumers in locating and resolving any problems while the dishwasher is operating. These error codes typically appear on the dishwasher’s display panel and provide valuable information about the nature of the problem. Understanding these codes can aid in troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently.
1. OE or 1E (Water Inlet Issue):
This error suggests a problem with the water inlet valve or the water supply. Ensure that the water supply is connected properly and that the inlet valve is functioning. Clean the inlet valve and check for any blockages in the water line.
2. FE (Water Overflow Error):
The FE code indicates an excess of water in the dishwasher. Inspect for leaks and overflows. Check the float switch for any obstructions and ensure it moves freely.
3. LE (Leakage Error):
This code signals water leakage. Inspect the dishwasher for leaks around the door and check the door seal for any damages. Resolve any leaks and replace the door seal if necessary.
4. HE (Heater Error):
The HE error points to an issue with the dishwasher’s heating element. Test the heating element for continuity and replace it if it is faulty. Ensure proper wiring and connections.
5. AE (Water Leakage Sensor Issue):
The AE code indicates a problem with the leakage sensor. Inspect the sensor for damage or malfunctions. Check for actual leaks and fix them to prevent false error readings.
6. DE or dE1 (Door Error):
This error number is related to issues with the dishwasher door, including a broken door switch. Inspect the door components for proper functioning and replace any defective parts.
7. FE or dE2 (Fan Error):
The FE or dE2 code suggests an issue with the fan motor. Test the fan for proper operation and replace it if necessary. Ensure the fan wiring and connections are secure.
8. CE (Communication Error):
CE indicates a communication problem between the main control board and the display board. Check the wiring and connections between these components. If needed, replace the faulty board.
9. LE1 (Motor Locked Error):
The LE1 code signifies a problem with the dishwasher’s motor. Check for obstructions in the pump and motor assembly. If the motor is not functioning, replace it.
10. PF (Power Failure):
During a cycle, a power outage is indicated by the PF code. Restart the dishwasher after ensuring a stable power supply. Check the circuit breaker and power cord for any issues.
11. 01, 02, 03, and up to 24
A two-digit number, 01, 02, and 03, up to 24, denotes the activation of the DELAY START. The number indicates the number of hours that the cycle has been late. This isn’t a mistake. Delay Start may be turned off using the CANCEL function, allowing the cycle to start right away.
12. tE (Thermal Error)
A tE denotes a thermal error that occurred in the unit. This will happen if the thermostat isn’t working properly or if the water temperature is higher than 194 degrees. Should the tE error code continue to appear, the device will need to be repaired. Kindly click on our page.
13. 2H (Estimated Time)
A 2H code merely serves as a rough approximation of how long the cycle should last. When the time is less than 99 minutes, the countdown to the end of the washing cycle begins. A 2H indicates that the projected time left is less than 2 hours. There is no need for a repair service since this is not an error code.
14. nE (Vario Motor Error)
This displays when the unit detects a possible issue with the vario motor, which controls the dishwasher’s spray arms. If the nE error code persists, the unit will require a repair service.
15. CR (Continuous Run)
This merely signifies that the device is in test mode, which installers and service technicians utilize to verify the device’s functionality. Three buttons must be simultaneously pressed and held in order to activate CR.
How to turn off the CR error code:
- Press the power button to turn off the unit.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes, and then turn the unit back on.
This should exit test mode for the device; however, if the CR error code continues, a repair service will be necessary.
16. CL (Child Lock)
This is not an error code. This code means that the CHILD LOCK or CONTROL LOCK feature has been activated. When activated, all buttons will not change except the washer’s door and the power button.
To activate the child lock:
- Open the dishwasher door.
- Press the power button.
- Select the cycle (and desired options).
- Press and hold the RINSE and SPRAY buttons for three seconds.
The child lock indicator will illuminate on the display once the child lock is activated.
Close the door to begin the cycle.
On some models, while the cycle is running, press and hold DUAL ZONE for three seconds to activate or deactivate the control lock.
17. bE Error Code (Improper Detergent)
The error code indicates the use of improper detergent or failure to level the appliance. To resolve the issue:
What type of cleaning agent do you employ?
Avoid using liquid detergents for hand washing. This kind of detergent will produce excessive sudsing and possibly leaks; hence, it is not recommended for use in automatic dishwashers. There will be subpar washing and drying results.
Use only dishwasher detergents, such as Finish or Cascade.
Is the dishwasher leveled?
To guarantee adequate drainage, prevent damage, and ensure optimal performance, the dishwasher needs to be leveled correctly from front to rear and side to side. Please visit our LG Dishwasher-Leveling page for additional instructions.
Do you see any suds in the dishwasher tub?
Pour 4–7 ounces of milk into a shallow dish, set it on the upper rack, and use the AUTO cycle on the appliance if suds are visible. The milk’s fat content will provide the suds with a surface to attach to, enabling proper rinsing.
18. P1, P2, P3, P4 (Download Cycle)
This is not an error code. This code means that the download cycle has been completed. Depending on the cycle, the code will change from P1 to P4.
P1: Pots and pans clean heavily soiled cookware. (Not hand-scrubbing frying pans and pots.)
P2: Casseroles (Cleans greasy and heavily soiled dishes) Casseroles come out clean.
P3: Glassware (safely washes delicate glassware, leaving it sparkling)
P4: Night Care (quietly washes dishes overnight) Sleep soundly, knowing the dishes will be clean in the morning.
19. Cycle Time Delayed (Long Cycle Time)
This is not an error code and does not require service.
Scene 1: (as of the 2016 models)
For your protection, if the door is opened during the heating portion, the drain pump will automatically turn on. Once it resumes, the cycle’s remaining duration will increase by up to 30 minutes.
Scene 2: (as of the 2016 models)
With the exception of the regular cycle, the extra dry will automatically be set if there is no rinse aid present or if the rinse aid adjustment is set to L0. Due to the extreme dryness, the overall cycle duration may increase by up to thirty minutes.
Scene 3: (Every model)
For optimal washing performance, the sump heater will turn on before the main wash cycle if cold water enters the unit. Pre-heating may increase the remaining cycle time by up to thirty minutes.
20. I24, H01, H02
This is the delay wash hour setting; it is not an error code.
Open the dishwasher door and simultaneously push (depending on your washer) for 3 seconds to cancel a delay wash setting.
Select Delicate and Normal.
Depress DELICATE and DUAL CONTROL.
Press HALF LOAD and SPRAY.
If you are not sure how to stop the cycle, just flip the circuit breaker off, wait a few minutes, and then switch it back on.
21. I24, H01, H02
This is not an error code; this indicates the hour setting for delay washing.
To cancel a delay wash setting, open the dishwasher door and simultaneously, for 3 seconds, press (depending on your washer):
Press Normal and Delicate.
Select DUAL CONTROL and DELICATE.
Press SPRAY and HALF LOAD.
If uncertain how to cancel the cycle, simply turn off the circuit breaker for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
22. n:xx, u:xx, d:xx
This is not an error code. It is the version information of the controller. If displayed, simply turn off the unit and then put it on again.
23. RINSE AID LEVEL (NOT AN ERROR)
This code indicates the current rinse assistance level. The mode for setting the rinse aid level is chosen. There are five adjustment settings on the dispenser. At the manufacturer, the dishwasher is set up with a rinse-aid dispenser setting of 2. This control panel is where you can verify and modify this.
How to Change the Level
Poor drying performance and spots and streaks on dishes might result from setting the rinse assist control too low. Excessive control settings may result in foaming, which will negatively impact the performance of the wash.
1. To verify the current setting, simultaneously press Power and Dual Zone.
2. To adjust the rinse-aid dispenser setting, press Delay Start. With each button click, the setting moves one step from L0 to L4.
3. To save after choosing the preferred rinse aid dispenser setting, click Start.
24. IE Error Code (Level Of Water)
An IE error code indicates that the level of water in the unit did not get high enough after 10 minutes of filling. To resolve this error, please check the following:
Newly installed units.
If the unit was recently installed, be certain that the water supply valve is turned on and the water line is not kinked or bent.
Water pressure:
Water pressure must be between 20 and 120 PSI. If this is too low, contact a plumber to correct the issue.
Drain Hose Outlet Installation:
Premature draining may occur if your dishwasher’s base is higher than where your drain hose outlet is installed.
The height of the drain hose end must be over 10 inches (almost 12 inches) from the bottom of the dishwasher to avoid water being siphoned from the tub. In this case, reinstall it according to the instructions in the owner’s manual.
Winter weather:
If your dishwasher is installed in a location where parts of it could be exposed to temperatures below freezing, it is possible for parts of the dishwasher to freeze. Melt the frozen parts by soaking a towel in warm water and wrapping it around the frozen area. Once the frozen area has thawed, the dishwasher should be able to operate.
Improper leveling:
Check the leveling of your dishwasher, as improper leveling may cause IE.
25. Error (- – -)
This is not an error code. This code means that the CANCEL function was activated. After draining, it will disappear.
In any case, if you are unable to resolve the issue based on the error code and troubleshooting steps, it’s recommended to consult the dishwasher’s user manual or contact us for further assistance. Professional service may be required for complex problems or part replacements.
